Comforting God, tonight we come, seeking your comfort. We come understanding just how fragile life is. Sometimes that reality comes to close. We know that death, though it has been defeated, it still stings. We call out, pleading for answers. And in the midst of that cry, we hear the words, “Be still, and know I am God.” And it is to that truth we cling this night. Our lives are busy, but help us not to take for granted the most important things. Help us to remember to hug those we love, to never fail to be there, to listen, to enjoy time – because it is precious. Help us to put aside all of the busy work and to take time for what really matters. It’s not the “stuff”, it is not “success” – it is love. As we come to the close of this day, help us to remember our first love – you, O God. Comfort us, shelter us, grant us your peace and your rest. Help us not to forget those who mourn this night and those who suffer in silence. In the name of Jesus, our Comfort, we pray. Amen.
