Evening Prayer: December 14th

Heavenly Father, I rest tonight knowing that I am your child. Use my dreams to instruct and correct me. Replace my restlessness with your rest, my anxiety with your peace, my activity with your stillness, so that I can sleep all night long. The day is over, a page in the book of my life is over. I rest tonight anticipating continuing the journey tomorrow if it be your will. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

From C.S. Lewis

unnamed

“Aslan, Aslan. Dear Aslan,” sobbed Lucy. “At last.” The great beast rolled over on his side so that Lucy fell, half sitting and half lying between his front paws. He bent forward and just touched her nose with his tongue. His warm breath came all round her. She gazed up into the large wise face.

“Welcome, child,” he said. “Aslan,” said Lucy, “you’re bigger.” “That is because you are older, little one,” answered he. “Not because you are?” “I am not. But every year you grow, you will find me bigger.”

Daily Scripture Passage: Psalm 25:4-9

Psalm 25:4-9 (ESV)

4 Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
    teach me your paths.
5 Lead me in your truth and teach me,
    for you are the God of my salvation;
    for you I wait all the day long.

6 Remember your mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love,
    for they have been from of old.
7 Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
    according to your steadfast love remember me,
    for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!

8 Good and upright is the Lord;
    therefore he instructs sinners in the way.
9 He leads the humble in what is right,
    and teaches the humble his way.
