Morning Prayer: April 12th

Most Good and Gracious God: I ask for your guidance and strength that I may be a source of guidance and strength to others. May I so live that others would report my labors of love and steadfast hope as sources of encouragement. May I so live in every place of my life – work, home, school, wherever I am – that my faith would be evident and draw others closer to you. May I live every moment in response to your claim on me, turning from those things that distract me from living the called life you have led me into. I receive your word with joy and promise to share it in thought, word, and deed throughout this day. In the matchless name of Jesus. Amen.

Evening Prayer: April 11th

Loving God, thank you for your graciousness, generosity, mercy, and guiding hand this day. Where I failed today, forgive me. Where I have tried to act according to your Word and will, confirm and strengthen me. Guide me in my sleep so that your way is plain when I awake to face tomorrow. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

Daily Scripture Passage: 1 Peter 2:21-25

1 Peter 2:21-25 (ESV)

21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.22 He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. 23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. 25 For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
