God, as I breathed your breath of morning with all its challenge, so now I breathe your breath of evening with all its peace. There were times today when I was absent in spirit, but you were always present. Gather up my absences, my dimness, my flickering flame into your hands and heart, and let them be transformed into new empowered life. As those for whom I pray face the end of the day, help them to sleep in trust, knowing that you keep them tenderly through the night. In the quiet hour, when I block out the noise of the day, fix my mind again on the wonders of all that you do in our lives. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
